Faculty III – Institute of Materials Science and Technology/ Chair of Ceramic Materials

Research topics of the Chair are largely centered around ceramics and glasses for energy applications, life sciences and environmental sustainability with this addressing the global megatrends of individualized medicine, materials scarcity, environmental protection, and the need for clean energy. Working field:

Self-driven independent research and teaching in one of the following fields of materials science and engineering: (i) materials for energy, (ii) materials for environment, (iii) materials for life sciences, (iv) stimuli-responsive materials; international publishing of research results; teaching as well as writing research proposals. The opportunity for a habilitation (typical qualification for a professorship) is provided.

Requirements:

We are seeking individuals with innovative experimental or theoretical programs in one of the emerging fields of materials science and engineering. As a successful candidate you should be an excellent scientist, holding a PhD degree in materials science, chemistry or physics and a fundamental know-how and expertise in at least one of the following fields: (i) computational materials science, (ii) in-situ and in-operando characterization of materials and devices, (iii) polymer-derived and biomorphic ceramics, (iv) microbial processing of materials, (v) additive manufacturing, (vi) field-assisted synthesis and processing, (vii) elastic properties of materials and elastic energy storage, (viii) sunlight utilization / interaction with materials (excluding photovoltaics), (ix) optical, acoustic, magnetic, or mechanical sensors. You are an enthusiastic, energetic, and team-oriented personality, self-driven with good writing and communication skills in English and at least basic knowledge of German.
