Data Analyst/Programmer Medical Informatics

The purpose of this position is to support the operational activities and scientific analysis of the Data Coordination Centre (DCC) for the National Kidney Disease Surveillance Programme. Specifically, the successful candidate will manage software and operational data systems, support data programming and data mining and provide analytic support to the research team within the DCC. The candidate will support staff to develop predictive models, deploy and implement models into the data warehouse system. They will also support the use of relational database systems within the context of data mining solutions and support the biostatistical team in the analysis of large datasets.

The post holder will support the operational activities of the data centre by data programming, linking and merging of large health datasets, preparing analytic datasets for analysis, and by supporting statistical analyses. The data sources will include: electronic medical record data, laboratory data, medical and pharmacy claims data, hospitalisation data, mortality data and data from connected health solutions. S/he will produce analytic datasets, listings, tables, and figures for research projects, according to specifications, while maintaining documentation and complying with pre-defined project / study standards. S/he will maintain records for all assigned studies including archiving of data analysis and associated documentation. S/he will provide input as required at all meetings, discussions and activities covering aspects of research data management and analysis on research projects. S/he will ensure that study documentation and specifications are consistent and comply with company standards by providing input into pooled datasets, data structures, and specifications of analysis datasets, listings, summaries, figures and tables for observational studies.

Description

The successful appointee will have a degree with a substantial quantitative component (e.g. Computer science, applied mathematics, statistics, or biostatistics) and have excellent working knowledge of data systems, data warehouses and observational databases.



Specifically, s/he will manage software and operational data systems, support data programming and data mining and provide analytic support to the team within the DCC. S/he will support the staff to develop predictive models, deploy and implement models into the data warehouse system. S/he will also support the use of relational database systems within the context of data mining solutions and support the biostatistical team in the analysis of large datasets. The data sources will include: electronic medical record data, laboratory data, medical and pharmacy claims data, hospitalisation data, mortality data and data from connected health solutions. S/he will conduct observational database programming and statistical analysis of large observational databases with minimal supervision. 



S/he will have well-developed communication skills, be well-organised, self-motivated and proactive and able to work to deadlines. The successful candidate will be responsible for working closely with the project steering group and the principal investigator.
