Advanced techniques such as tomosynthesis have the potential of leveraging digital radiography systems to the domain of 3D-imaging. In the near future we expect 3D imaging to become a key component for the success of Agfa’s digital radiography systems.

In our Image Processing Team we are continuously improving the 3D imaging algorithms and investing in next generation SW and novel image processing applications.

Job summary

 

As Researcher 3D Image Processing you are responsible for:

  • Running innovation-oriented image processing projects, from feasibility study to the development of core components, in alignment with agreed project planning, available resources, regulatory policies and restrictions that may arise from patented technology.
  • Developing new, and continuously improving existing algorithms and core software components of advanced medical imaging products in co-operation with domain specialists and end-users, including radiologists.
  • Exploring novel technical concepts for product improvement and discussing proposals for innovation with other experts and stakeholders.
  • Completing the development with reports, presentations and demos in support of other involved departments, including Verification & Validation, Marketing, Application, Service and external partners.
  • Following up on scientific literature, patents and technical documents and securing proprietary know-how by filing patents in co-operation with the IP department.

Profile

  • You are Master or PhD in biomedical, computer science or electronics engineering, physics or mathematics.
  • You have successfully conducted one or more research projects in the domain of image reconstruction, image processing (2D/3D), pattern recognition, image transforms, segmentation techniques, image and/or surface registration …
  • You have experience with designing and implementing complex algorithms. 
  • You have knowledge of medical imaging, basic knowledge of the healthcare environment and human anatomy.
  • You are proficient in software analysis, design and development (C++, Java) and familiar with Visual C++, STL, IPP, Intrinsics (MMX, SSE, SSE2), multi-threading, Java Native Interface (JNI), C++ Accelerated Massive Parallellism (AMP), GPU programming (CUDA or OpenCL), Matlab, Mathematica, Excel, Python.
  • You have excellent analytical skills.
  • You are customer oriented and able to detect customer needs and translate these needs to technical requirements. 
  • You think visionary and out-of-the-box. 
  • You are able to work autonomously, self-motivated, persevering, yet flexible enough to cope with changing circumstances.
  • You are pragmatic and efficient when faced with the task of mastering and improving a complex existing code base.
  • You are a loyal team-player.
  • You are fluent in Dutch and English (verbal and written communication).
