Organizational Context

The post is located in Management and Administrative Applications Section, Department of Program Planning and Finance, Administration and Management Sector. The Section is responsible for the continuous development and on-going support of management and administrative applications.

The incumbent develops and maintains the Administration Information Management System (AIMS), an integrated software suite of business applications (ERP). He / she plays a key role in ensuring the Hyperion Planning and EssBase based Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) technical solution is developed and maintained according to proven best practices and efficiently meets the needs of the organization. The incumbent will provide a vital link between the functional and technical teams, providing expert level technical knowledge on Hyperion Planning and EssBase, helping to develop the technical capabilities of EPM within the Organization. He / she further plays a key role in ensuring the Business Intelligence (BI) data warehouse is structured and populated with source data to meet the information and various reporting needs of the organization.

The incumbent works under the supervision of the Manager, ERP Technical Team.

Main duties

The incumbent performs the following principal duties:

  1. Analyze processes and systems; identify opportunities for simplifying, streamlining and enhancing system capabilities and implement technical solutions;
  2. Assign, organize, monitor and validate the work of external contractors to ensure that established objectives are met and quality standards achieved;
  3. Design and implement software applications and customizations in accordance with established software engineering guidelines and standards. Follow-up of all phases of change initiatives and projects, from initiation through to operational deployment;
  4. Carry out technical administration and maintenance tasks as required, and ensure smooth running of the operational systems and their interfaces with other systems. Liaise with IT focal points in other sectors to support, maintain and enhance the system interfaces;
  5. Provide second level user support of all applications that fall within the responsibility of the Section; liaise with AIMS users to specify and test new or modified processes;
  6. Prepare and maintain AIMS technical and user documentation; prepare training materials and technical presentations.
  7. Perform other duties as necessary.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential

  • First-level university degree in computer science, information technology or related discipline.

Experience

Essential

  • At least six years' relevant professional experience.
  • Experience developing solutions within Hyperion Planning and EssBase, ideally with Oracle Certification.
  • Experience of integrating planning to ERP and reporting solutions, ideally in a Hyperion Planning, PeopleSoft and Oracle Business Intelligence environment.
  • Experience with tools such as Oracle Business Intelligence (OBIEE). Understanding of, and experience with, integrating an ERP solution to a Business Intelligence solution, ideally in an OBIEE and PeopleSoft environment.
  • Experience with and sound knowledge of several or all of the following areas: analysis and specification, software development, user acceptance testing, software maintenance, documentation standards, training methods and deployment.

Desirable

  • Experience with general ERP business practices.
  • Experience of Master Data Management.

  • Competent user of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and the internet and the ability to quickly adapt to new technology.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft FSCM and PeopleSoft HCM.
  • PeopleTools skills.

Languages

Essential

  • Excellent written and spoken knowledge of English.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of other UN official languages, particularly French.

90.4 % of the above figure(s). This percentage is to be considered as indicative since variations may occur each month either upwards or downwards due to currency exchange rate fluctuations or inflation.

Additional Information

Salaries and allowances are paid in Swiss francs at the official rate of exchange of the United Nations.

Initial period of two years, renewable, subject to satisfactory performance. No fixed-term appointment or any extension hereof shall carry with it any expectancy of, nor imply any right to, (further) extensions or conversion to a permanent appointment.
