Category management consists in:

  • Conducting procurement marketing of category: spend analysis, understanding and analysis of business needs, anticipation of future needs, supplier market analysis and market dynamics;
  • Developing procurement strategy and approach strategy towards suppliers on category, activating all spend reduction levers: such strategy is defined in close coordination with business;
  • Defining and implementing an action plan to deploy validated strategies, for entities to effectively reduce their external spend on the category;
  • Steering economic performance (external spend reduction), supplier performance on category;
  • Reviewing strategy in response to changes (market, external spend, ...);
  • Supporting operational entities in the implementation and monitoring of suppliers policy defined for the category.

The category entrusted to you will be "Wind Turbines". In this context, for this category, and with a Group mandate, you:

  • Steer a Category Team, composed of Category Lead Buyers, located in different continents, but also of experts and users of main concerned BUs, to guarantee relevance of analyses, strategy and action plan definition within deadlines;
  • Review and update the strategy and the action plan for this category, capitalizing on all cost-reduction levers;
  • Drive/coordinate action plan implementation:
  • You steer procurement activities, particularly RFPs, selection and negotiations with major suppliers on category (negotiation strategy and negotiation team definition, launch of  RFPs, supplier selection, contracting ... )
  • You ensure the monitoring of business actions (e.g. standardization , demand management, ...) and you stand as active support to business;
  • Ensure that supplier policies contracts are properly deployed in entities, relying on your category team;
  • Communicate regularly with concerned Operational Purchasing Managers, to ensure the ownership of category strategies and policy;
  • Ensure the management of preferred suppliers on the category (economic performance, quality, compliance to deadlines, major claims...) in order to get a continuous improvement of their performance;
  • Devise category performance targets across the relevant entities and BUs;

Ensure that identified cost reductions are realized and validated by Finance.

To fulfill your mission, you will rely on a Category Cluster Board, composed of business and Procurement top managers, who will validate key milestones and facilitate issue solving.

Qualifications

  • Master in engineering or business;
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in operational management or project management;
  • English is  mandatory, French is a plus;
  • Develop a strong autonomy, leadership and influence qualities;
  • An in-depth knowledge of the wind turbine industry by having filled different positions with a leading turbine manufacturer;
  • Analysis and synthesis competences and negotiation skills;
  • Experience in managing cross-cultural teams.

The function is located in Brussels or Paris, and requires some international travelling.
