Local Unit & Position Description

This role will be based within the Asset Integrity Management Team in Aberdeen. The purpose of the role is provide support for corrosion control and integrity management activities primarily to North Sea Operators.

Liaison with other teams within GL Noble Denton and our clients, will be required together with potential site work in the UK, overseas and offshore.

  • To provide Metallurgical, Materials and Corrosion Engineering support to the Asset Integrity Management Team.
  • To provide Corrosion and Metallurgical expertise in identifying potential Failure Modes and Failure Mechanisms for the Up-Stream, Mid-Stream and Down-Stream Oil and Gas business sectors.
  • Develop and update a project plan for the implementation of RBI studies of facilities.
  • Organize the resource planning of a multi-disciplinary operation, technology and inspection team.
  • Manage the project and manpower of the Technical Advisory RBI group to reach the target.
  • Define corrosion loops; describe degradation mechanisms of each process.
  • Responsible for failure analysis and verification of inspection locations and non-destructive testing (NDT) activities.
  • Prepare turnaround requirements of intrusive inspection together with Inspection Engineer.
  • Document RBI studies and criticality assessments in ACET software tool.
  • Training inspection, technology, and operational staffs regarding operating window and critical corrosion areas. Develop operating windows.
  • Facilitate RBI workshop Analysis of inspection and process data. Improve current inspection approach, strategy and frequency.
  • Develop strategies to reduce cost, reasonable inspection interval and improve inspection techniques of static equipment-vessel, piping and structural.
  • Prepare input for RBI cost estimate.
  • To participate in the development of Risk-Based Inspection and Maintenance methodologies.
  • To review Chemical Injection and Cathodic Protection Systems as they relate to Asset Integrity.
  • Stays current with emerging technologies and materials-related activities in the Oil and Gas Industries such as NACE, API, etc.
  • Applies knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related field.
  • To prepare the annual corrosion and internal pipeline integrity reports.
  • Review output from corrosion management contractor and work with clients internal groups to determine affective internal corrosion management strategy with chemical provider.
  • Provide out of hours emergency response when required.

Position Qualifications

  • BSc in Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Engineering, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering with Metallurgy/Materials emphasis or closest equivalent.
  • Preferred API 510, 570 and 653, NACE/Bgas.
  • Senior Technologist Certification.
  • Offshore Survival Certificate.
  • MIST Certificate.
  • Offshore Medical.
