Reseach project in the area of prosthetic hand development: developing metrics and methodologies that allow to evaluate the capabilities of a specific design, and optimizing it; and using this methodology, developing new designs of low-cost prosthetics, actuators and controllers. Specific goals are:
1. To analyze different designs of anthropomorphic hands and obtain optimal indicators that allow to evaluate its capability to emulate human hand grip modes common in activities of daily living.
2. To propose anthropomorphic hand designs, including their electromechanical actuation systems, which allow to optimize the defined indicators of quality and reduce the cost of design and manufacturing. This will be achieved by using rapid prototyping techniques and commercial elements.
3. To analyze different control strategies of transradial prosthetic hand and to propose innovative low cost and minimally invasive control methods.

Eligibility criteria
At the deadline for the submission of proposals (10/09/2015), researchers:
• shall be in possession of a doctoral degree or have at least four years of full-time equivalent research experience.
• must not have resided or carried out their main activities in the country of Spain for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the abovementioned deadline.
• Experience in CAD/CAM/CAE, mechatronics and computer programming are welcome.
