PhD Scholarships in Cell Death Signaling & Cancer, Goethe-University Frankfurt, Germany (2015-2016)

We are seeking applications for enthusiastic, highly motivated PhD students in the field of Cell Death Signaling & Cancer.

The Institute for Experimental Cancer Research in Pediatrics (Director: Prof. Dr. Simone Fulda) is a newly established institute at the Goethe-University Frankfurt to promote translational cancer research. We study cell death signaling pathways in cancers in order to identify key molecules for the development of new cancer therapeutics and novel prognostic biomarkers (e.g. Nat Rev Drug Discov, 11, 109-24, 2012; Leukemia, 26, 1010-9, 2012; Oncogene, 31, 1468-74, 2012.).

The current projects will focus on the elucidation of new cell death signaling pathways in cancer (apoptosis, necroptosis, autophagy) using primary tumor samples, cancer cell lines and mouse tumor models. Successful applicants have the opportunity to participate in the International Graduate School in Biomedicine at Frankfurt and in our international research networks on apoptosis (e.g. EU projects).

Interested candidates must have a M.Sc. or an equivalent degree. Applicants with skills in cell and molecular biology are encouraged to apply. We are seeking candidates who are highly self-motivated to join a young, international and dynamic research team. The positions can be filled immediately, initially for 3 years with the possibility for extension.
