Edinburgh Napier University aims to strengthen and expand areas of research excellence across our spectrum of research disciplines. 

We are inviting applications for fully funded, full-time doctoral studentships.

Successful applicants will join a lively and thriving student community researching their specialism within our areas of identified excellence. 

Our research excellence is underpinned by good practice benchmarks in research design & delivery. Our recent submission to the Research Excellence Framework 2014, resulted in research deemed to be of world leading and internationally excellent quality, across each of our submitted areas;

  • Allied Health Professions, Dentistry, Nursing and Pharmacy

  • Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Metallurgy and Materials

To support students’ career progression, Edinburgh Napier provides a researcher development programme, combining discipline-specific training and generic skills development at both School and University level, mapped against Vitae’s Researcher Development Framework.

Successful students will be matched with highly-trained academic supervisors leading research in their fields. 

Candidates should have, or expect to achieve, a First Class honours degree in a relevant subject, or a 2:1 honours degree supported by a Master’s degree. Evidence of excellent written and oral English will also be required.
