Postdoctoral Fellowships in Molecular Medicine, Institute for Molecular Medicine, Finland (2015-2016)

The Institute for Molecular Medicine Finland (FIMM, www.fimm.fi) is an international research institute in Helsinki focusing on human genomics and personalised medicine. FIMM integrates molecular medicine research, technology center and biobanking infrastructures “under one roof” and thereby promotes translational research and adoption of personalised medicine in health care. FIMM researchers are involved in several grand challenge projects, such as the impact of genome information on personalised health and medical interventions, development of individualised cancer medicine, and novel diagnostics via imaging of tissue and cells. The disease areas of interest for the research groups include cancer, cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, neurology, and viral infections.

Candidates are expected to hold a doctoral degree in biology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, biotechnology, computer science, genetics, mathematics, medicine, or other related fields, obtained before the MSCA IF deadline of 10 September 2015. Candidates are also expected to have good problem solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills, be fluent in English, have good interpersonal and written and oral communication skills, and be able to work independently as well as within an international team.

Candidates are required to read carefully the MSCA IF Guide for Applicants to ascertain eligibility, especially with regard to the mobility rules for each scheme, and learn about what will be required of them if selected to apply with a FIMM research group host.
