PhD Scholarships in Economics, Jönköping International Business School (JIBS), Sweden (2015-2016)

Economics is one of the largest disciplines at JIBS and is globally known for excellence in research and teaching and for its strong international profile. As part of our growth strategy, we seek new PhD Students in Economics. The research centers around (i) innovation, entrepreneurship, industrial dynamics and growth, (ii) spatial economics, transportation and international trade, and (iii) corporate governance, firm performance and institutional conditions.

As a PhD student, working full-time, at least 80 per cent of your time is assigned to your doctoral studies. This includes coursework and writing a doctoral thesis. The remaining time is allocated to teaching and administrative tasks.

Two of the doctoral positions are focused on media use and socio-economic structures, especially with the growth of digital media. They are co-affiliated with the SOM Institute, an independent survey research organization at the University of Gothenburg (www.som.gu.se). Since 1986 the Institute has conducted annual surveys with focus on Swedes´ habits, behavior, opinions, and values mainly in the areas of politics, and media. The doctoral students are expected to use these longitudinal data in their doctoral research. Also, part of the doctoral supervising will take place at the SOM Institute.
