The successful candidate will be expected to take up post on April 1st or as soon thereafter as possible.
CONNECT is Ireland’s Future Networks and Communications Research Centre. Co-funded by the Irish government through Science Foundation Ireland and by industry, its mission is to research, develop and innovate new communications solutions to address many of the challenges facing society. CONNECT is headquartered in and led by Trinity College Dublin, who are partnered by 9 other Irish academic institutions and 36 companies ranging from large ICT multi-nationals to smaller and emerging indigenous companies.
The Director of Innovation will be responsible for keeping CONNECT at, and ahead of, the leading edge of communications research and development. The individual in this role will need highly expert forecasting and trend spotting skills, will need to be creative and disruptive, and will understand the research domain in which CONNECT operates. In bringing proactive thought leadership to the centre, the post-holder will identify strategies that allows the centre to grow and remain vital beyond the medium-term research strategies to which the centre is already committed. To that end, the post-holder should be a thought leader, capable of disruptive thinking and having an ability to forecast future trends.
