Research manager, AGRECHEM Consortium of Excellence

The Antwerp Green Chemistry research center of the University of Antwerp is a consortium formed by five chemical and physical research groups (LADCA, ORSY, AXES, BIMEF and ECM) with prof. P. Cool as spokesperson. The consortium aims at consolidating and increasing excellence in sustainable chemistry at the University of Antwerp. Recently, the consortium was nominated by the University of Antwerp as Consortium of Excellence.

Within this new framework we are currently looking for:

A research manager for the AGRECHEM Consortium of Excellence

Job description

  • Your main task will be related to managing of fundamental research, and for some topics you will work in close cooperation with research & innovation managers;
  • You will assist with the coordination of international projects;
  • You will provide support in writing project reports;
  • You will assist with publications of the consortium members;
  • You will (re)present the consortium at project information meetings;
  • You will participate in international and policy supporting (EU) meetings and match-making events;
  • You will participate in the active search for and recruitment of new researchers of the consortium;
  • You will explore new funding possibilities and support the process of proposal writing for the consortium members;
  • You will provide support in obtaining externally funded research grants;
  • You will support Hercules and similar applications (upgrade and replacement of scientific equipment);
  • You will create and maintain a website presenting the consortium;
  • You will coordinate the internal meetings of the consortium;
  • You will organize project meetings, workshops and conferences for the consortium members;
  • You will support the consortium in archiving and Open Access issues.

Profile and requirements

  • You hold (or obtain during the application period) a doctorate degree (PhD) in Physics/ Chemistry /Bio-engineering (Chemistry)/Civil-engineering (Chemistry or Physics)/ Materials Science (& Engineering);
  • You are familiar with molecules and materials synthesis and their characterization in relation to green chemistry and sustainability;
  • You have experience with national/international funding bodies;
  • You have experience in writing research grants, both at national and international level;
  • You are highly motivated to work in an international, dynamic environment;
  • You are willing to work in a strong multidisciplinary field combining different expertise;
  • Experience in working in a multidisciplinary environment and with techniques used in the research groups of the consortium is an advantage;
  • You have excellent communicative and social skills;
  • You have excellent presentation and writing skills (also in English);
  • You have demonstrated organization skills;
  • You are fluent in English, quality-oriented and creative;
  • Management experience in research is an advantage.
