A full time experimental officer position is available within the world-renowned Optical Fibre Fabrication Group at the Optoelectronics Research Centre. The post will primarily involve optical fibre fabrication, materials processing, and fibre characterisation, but a good knowledge of managing clean room based technologies is desirable. The successful candidate will have a broad range of engineering skills with particular reference to fabrication and materials processing. Applicants should ideally have a degree qualification in an engineering/physics/chemistry discipline and several years of post-graduate experience in the subject area.

The appointment will initially be for 3 years on TAE Level 5 (Technical and Experimental Pathway) with further scope for a long term appointment. The salary will be commensurate with the qualification and experience. The current salary is in the range of £36,309 to £45,954 pa for level 5 TAE staff.
