Information technology is an integral part of the strategic initiatives for all the Core Business Functions at IFC. Corporate Information Technologies (CIT) Teams provides comprehensive IT support for IFC's Investment & Advisory Services, Financial Operations, Treasury & the Asset Management Company. A robust engagement model with business ensures prioritization of the business requirements & focus on delivery. The application landscape encompasses a wide variety of In-house, Customized COTS products (such as ACBS, Summit, etc.,) which meets the business needs of IFC departments. The Technical landscape is continuously updated & some of the core technologies include Oracle, Java, .Net, Alliance/SWIFT, Documentum, SharePoint, MS Exchange, C++, and many others. A plethora of IT Risk Management & Quality Assurance products are also used for an enhanced value of Service delivery. The Operational unit of the Corporate Information Technology (CIT) department is seeking a IT Officer, Business Solutions with strong business analytical and technical skills to work with internal clients to successfully develop, build and implement business solutions working along with a geographically distributed development team. We are looking for a highly motivated and versatile candidate who can demonstrate relentless attention to detail and who can communicate with non-technical clients. The candidate requires strong theoretical background and substantial experience in information technology, banking or investment operation, good requirements collection and interviewing capabilities, strong analytical skills to critically evaluate gathered information, and high proficiency in the development of business/technical requirements documentation for large-scale information systems. The incumbent will report to a project manager Note: If the selected candidate is a current Bank Group staff member with a Regular or Open-Ended appointment, s/he will retain his/her Regular or Open-Ended appointment. All others will be offered a 4 year term appointment.

Duties and Accountabilities

Independent contributor IT professional, with expertise in a variety of tools, providing value to the business through effective process analysis and requirements development and documentation.

  • Participates in the feasibility analysis for new systems/applications.
  • Interfaces with business analysts, project managers, and/or clients to clarify requirements. Develops technical specifications.
  • May serve as a technical lead or project manager on small sized projects.
  • Participates in systems integration efforts, executing as needed to integrate new applications into the installed base.
  • Performs coding and/or configuration to meet documented needs, utilizing standard procedures and techniques.
  • Tests own work, leads peer reviews, and contributes to the development of test plans and participates in post-implementation reviews.
  • Provides daily operational support for production systems including providing on-call support.
  • Writes system documentation.
  • Participates in user training as appropriate, on new or revised systems/applications.
  • Establishes systems to monitor the operating efficiency of existing application systems and provides (or arranges for) proactive maintenance.
  • Participates in systems design, working within an established framework. Typically provides direction to a team of staff and contractors in their area of expertise, and may be responsible for managing performance of team members.
  • Provides technical guidance and mentorship to team members. PLUS:
  • Successfully manages large and/or complex projects, processes or services that have impact across multiple areas of the organization, such as across multiple functions, processes, services, etc.
  • Contributes subject matter expertise and serves as a technical resource for other professionals in their field.
  • Provides direction to staff and contractors in their area of expertise.
  • Responsible for managing performance of team members.
  • Organize and facilitate requirements elicitation and review meetings with stakeholders of information systems being developed. Create and maintain requirements documentation for information systems being developed, including business analysis models, functional specs, use-case models, use cases (including special requirements), and supplementary specifications. Use software tools for maintaining repositories of requirements documentation.
  • Assess overall project requirements, business needs, pain points and areas of process improvement
  • Conduct business process analysis meetings with business users and document in detail system processes in diagrammatic and textual format
  • Perform data analysis
  • Gain an understanding of existing systems' functionality, compare current/envisioned business processes to system functionality, and document gaps
  • Engage System Analysts and system owners to identify and document systems specific requirements
  • Collaborate with QA lead to ensure Testing Strategy covers all Business Requirements
  • Obtain sign off to ensure all the participants are on the same page with regards to any issues
  • Create implementation approach categorized in logical sections based on criticality and priority
  • Manage the defined scope and present change requests to the users for approvals
  • Assess dependencies, potential issues and risks
  • Participate substantively in testing the functionality of systems being developed to determine whether requirements captured and approved are being met.
  • Review IFC's policies, procedures and practices to determine specifications and requirements for any customization
  • Act as a liaison between the business units, project manager, technology teams, vendors and support teams. Contributes to the development of project plans, identifies key milestones, and raises critical project issues such as resource needs and contingencies.
  • Support post-implementation and transition to a business/technical sustained state (e.g., warranty period support).

Selection Criteria

Minimum Education/Experience:

  • Master's degree with 5 years relevant experience or Bachelors Degree with a minimum of 7 years relevant experience.

Other Selection Criteria:

  • A strong understanding of Corporate Systems and in-depth experience in conducting business process analysis, mapping complex enterprise processes, activities, workflows and identifying gaps between current and future states. Ability to synthesize and document large volume of data
  • Experience with software tools used in Requirements discipline and Software Testing discipline
  • Experience and knowledge of IFC's processes and systems is desirable
  • Understanding of business processes involved in Investment lending and processing
  • Experience in business workflow design and management
  • Good understanding of SharePoint, .Net technologies
  • proven skills in requirements elicitation, analysis, definition, and management, process modeling and diagramming, use case modeling and development. The candidate should be able to demonstrating artifacts they have produced.
  • Experience in documenting business requirements, use cases, functional and non-functional requirements, traceability matrix, etc.
  • Excellent communications and writing skills for functional and technical documents.
  • Strong communication (spoken and written) skills, including the ability to advise and train users in the use of complex systems/applications and effectively prepare specifications and other written reports/documentation in a clear, concise style
  • Experience with facilitation skills to lead requirements elicitation workshops planning and preparation, presentation, knowledge capture and follow-up.
  • Interpersonal skills, to help negotiate priorities and to resolve conflicts among project stakeholders
  • High degree of knowledge and experience in working with process quality improvement methodologies such as Sigma, Kaizen, Value stream mapping
  • Experience in working with data and exposure to one or more business process modeling tools such as MS Visio
  • Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process specifically agile methodology
  • Ability to structure and prioritize requirements to allow iterative implementation
  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills in operating collaboratively across organizational boundaries. Coordinate and develop partnerships with colleagues and clients
