  • Job Description*

Work in New Product Development Engineering and be responsible for the design, analysis, and development of new and/or existing production hardware products for Eaton Aerospace Fluid and Electrical Distribution Division on conveyance systems, applications and testing. Starting from customer preliminary specification, the design engineer is responsible for performing and managing multiple phases of product design, analysis, and development to final customer approval. Additional responsibilities include focus on analysis to support new product development and customer failure analysis. Projects typically include frequent customer technical communication covering design integration, technical proposal presentation, reverse engineering analysis, report writing, and the planning and managing of component testing. In addition, projects require close liaison with purchasing, quality and manufacturing operations. A. Develop new or improved ways of product solutions to meet deadlines, cost targets, and customer requirements during design and development cycles.

B. Creates engineering designs based on customer input and works with other functions (e.g. product management, manufacturing, quality, tooling, etc.) to insure continuous flow during product development cycle.

C. Perform preliminary structural, thermal, dynamic, and performance analysis for design validation.

D Review existing product documentation to find issues and determine resolutions and execute design change requests (DCR’s) IAW ISO standards when required while maintaining conformity to customer requirements.

E. Communicates effectively with internal and external customers. This includes quick response to technical questions from the internal and external customers using experienced engineering judgment and/or simple analysis methods.

F. Support Product Management in assessing risk and business opportunity for new product applications. * Basic Qualifications (Including Educational Requirements)*

Basic qualifications:

A. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required.

B. Proven ability to work in a team environment.

C. Experience with Pro/E or similar modeling environment required.

D. Experience with Ansys or similar FEA software

E. Proven ability of modeling complex thermo-mechanical problems for aerospace applications

F. High level of attention to detail.

G. Familiarity with Product Data Management (PDM) system for drawings and documentation control and workflow management.

H. 3-5 years of relevant experience in mechanical and/or electro-mechanical design of packaging of fluidic devices and conveyance components. Preferred Qualifications:

I. Experience with Hydrodynamic seal and Accumulators design and analysis

J. Ability to work in a lab and production environment requiring the use of safety equipment (safety glasses, safety shoes, and hearing protection)

K. Understanding of manufacturing process including (but not limited to) turning, milling, grinding, lapping, and all other processes associated with manufacturing mechanical seals & accumulators. design engineer FRA-Coignieres 80374BR
