Research Assistant/Associate in Qualitative Research (RCS) - Three Posts

School of Social and Community Medicine
Fixed term contract staff
Full or Part time
Salary £31,342 - £39,685 per annum (pro rata if relevant)
Job number: ACAD101291

The School of Social and Community Medicine is seeking to appoint up to 3 fixed-term qualitative social scientists to join the innovative Quintet (Qualitative research Integrated within Trials) group led by Professor Jenny Donovan.

You will undertake Quintet Recruitment Interventions (QRIs), integrated in nationally funded randomised controlled trials (RCTs). QRIs aim to understand the reasons for recruitment difficulties, and then researchers work with the study lead and management group to optimise recruitment and informed consent.

Your role will involve interviewing members of the trial management group, observing and analysing audio-recordings of trial recruitment appointments, designing and encouraging the use of screening logs, working out patient recruitment pathways, and feeding back to the trial management group and agreeing a plan of action to improve recruitment, as necessary.

In addition to applying your proven qualitative skills in a dynamic and innovative research environment, you will also have the opportunity to contribute to teaching and to develop your own research programme in collaboration with fellow staff members.

The posts may be full-time or part-time and for a period of between 1-3yrs depending on the funding for the particular RCT.

Unless stated, your application will be considered for all vacancies.

For an informal discussion about the post, you are welcome to contact: Carmel Conefrey, (carmel.conefrey<στο>bristol.ac.uk, 0117 3314564).
