Overview:

Reporting to the HES Team Leader within Chevron's Energy Technology Centre, the HES Senior Process Risk Engineer will be responsible for the risk management and principles of Process Safety within both the ETC and its customers. The HES Senior Process Risk Engineer will provide subject matter expertise to a wide range of Chevron businesses advising on Process Hazard Analysis and driving process improvements to ensure continuous improvement in Chevron's Operational Excellence.

Key Job Responsibilities for these positions:

  • Role model for risk management and principles of process safety in Energy Technology Centre (ETC) and with its customers, in Chevron’s OPCOs, demonstrating the Company’s safety tenets and commitment to Operational Excellence.
  • Searches for process improvement activities which can help continually improve Operational Excellence across the Company.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for dispersion modelling, fire and explosion modelling, and quantitative risk analysis tools used at Chevron. Support business units through application of these tools.
  • Facilitate Process Hazards Analysis (PHA) studies, managing and instructing PHA Facilitator Workshop, vetting external contract facilitators, performing quality assurance reviews of PHAs (contractor and internal), and mentoring internal PHA facilitators.
  • Major Hazard facilitator supporting base business in conducting Integrated Hazard Identification studies.
  • Provide leadership and support to facilities for combined Operational Excellence / Process Safety Management audits.
  • Participate in team support activities such as business planning, metrics and budgets

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Applied Science is required.
  • Substantial experience in conducting process hazard analysis and familiarity with quantitive risk assessment tools.
  • Strong working knowledge of process safety and risk management.
  • Demonstrated ability to positively influence multiple stakeholders and develop PHA facilitator competency development across Chevron
  • Experience in effectively leading cross functional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly articulate technical issues orally and in writing.
  • Ability to coach and mentor new PHA facilitators by providing specific feedback on work product and areas for improvement.
  • Fosters cooperation and collaboration among individuals within and outside of work unit.
  • Excellent communication, influencing and team leadership skills.
