EUMETSAT is the European satellite agency for monitoring weather and climate. Bringing together the resources of 30 member states, we develop and operate a range of satellite systems surveying the atmosphere, land and ocean that deliver vital data 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Our data contribute to weather forecasts that protect lives and property across Europe and to monitoring of our changing climate. From 2015 onwards, EUMETSAT will also operate Copernicus Sentinel missions on behalf of the European Union and provide data and support services to the Copernicus marine, atmospheric composition and climate change monitoring information services and their users.

In this position, you will take responsibility for the configuration management of all our operational systems. This will include defining the upstream source code configuration management requirements, controlling configuration evolutions of our computer systems and application software and testing and deploying new releases on configuration-controlled environments. At the same time, you will refine and maintain our “As Built” and “As Designed” processes and plans, provide users with value-added services, reports and tools, and organise the activities of a small team.

You should have a university degree in computer science or engineering, complemented by a proven experience in conducting and implementing configuration management of large-scale, software-centred systems in operational environments. You will further possess practical experience in managing computer system configurations, software development activities and build and packaging environments, and will be fully versed in configuration management tools, object-oriented programming languages, relational databases and quality standards or models. Finally, you will be a capable project and team manager, with excellent interpersonal skills, fluency in English with some knowledge of French.
