Database and GIS Officer

The Database and GIS Officer supports the MEAL department with GIS mapping and database related tasks across all sectors: health, WASH, NFI, rehabilitation and protection.

Database

· Ensure the DHIS2 application is running all the time during working days

· Develop new data elements, data elements groups, Indicators and indicator groups

· Define and develop data sets on the basis of data collection tools being used by programme team

· Design data entry sheet by using HTML editor of DHIS2

· Develop output tables and reports by using pivot table module

· Develop graphs and charts by using data visualizer

· Modify and update the DHIS2 Module in accordance with programme requirement and specification.

· Manage, troubleshoot and provide solution to all issues emanating from the use of the DHIS2 software.

· Conduct training for all users of the DHIS2 and other data management software

· Give technical support to users all different levels

· Develop Excel/Access based databases for those programme which are not using DHIS2 currently

· Consolidate the data from different field offices to one central database

GIS

· Preparation, conception and production of maps, including the supervision and monitoring of mapping-related data collection

· Identify map information needs from different departments;

· Identify and access map information sources;

· Ensures that the produced maps meet the requirements of concerned departments.

· Conceptualize methodologies for collecting GPS and other GIS related data

· Organize and supervise GIS field data collection

Qualifications and Skills:

· Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Computer science or relevant discipline

· Excellent communication skills in English

· High proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint required

· Experience with data management by using DHIS2 and Access is required

· Experience with ArcGIS, Google Earth and GPS devices is desirable

· Adherence to IMC Code of Conduct and internationally accepted humanitarian principles
