A vacancy for a Structural Dynamics Engineer (m/f) has arisen within Airbus Defence & Space in S The successful applicant will join the Missile Mechanical Analysis department.
At the heart of development projects for launcher stages and ground integration means, you will be in charge of mechanical studies for the conception and justification of spatial vehicle main structures or launcher means for implementation on the naval base. The studies to be carried out require accurate knowledge of systems and structure mechanics in order to be able to help the design office efficiently and select the appropriate modelling assumptions to perform justification against Reliability or Nuclear Safety requirements.

This position will require a security clearance or will require being eligible for clearance by the recognized authorities.

Tasks & accountabilities

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

In the development phases or qualification tests of these structures/means:

  • Responsible for the definition of test programmes, forecasts, follow-up and test analysis;
  • Deep understanding of the project context and of the problem to be solved, the analysis of the technical context, the analysis of results, their interpretation and the synthesis of the results;
  • Working in interface with the design office team, test centre team and nuclear safety team;
  • Report on the progress of work to the technical authority, to the programme entity and to the customers concerned.

In the medium-term:

  • Assuming responsibility for the studies of several products and to coordinate the team associated with these activities.

In the long term:

  • Contributing to setting up development logics and guaranteeing their progress.

This role will involve some travel for business and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.

Required skills

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

  • A qualified Engineer (or university equivalent A qualified engineer (or university equivalent);
  • At least 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering and some initial experience in Structural Dynamics and Design;
  • Experience in performing finite element modelling;
  • Knowledge of SAMCEF would be a real advantage;
  • Negotiation level in French and intermediate in English.
