In the framework of the European Marie Curie Initial Training Network “ECOSTORE - Novel Complex Metal Hydrides for Efficient and Compact Storage of Renewable Energy as Hydrogen and Electricity” (http://www.ecostore-itn.eu) Rockwood Lithium is offering an ER position for post graduate students or PostDocs interested in the development of nanocrystalline light metal hydrides and hydride composites for solid state hydrogen storage and as battery materials.
ECOSTORE consists of academic partners from Denmark, Italy, France, Greece, Norway, Switzerland, UK, and Germany, 2 Japanese universities and 3 industrial partners from France and Germany. The aim is the characterization and optimization of novel boron and nitrogen based light metal hydrides and their composites for hydrogen storage and batteries, to be used in mobile and stationary energy storage applications, e.g. in emission-free automobiles or for storage of electrical energy from intermittent renewables.
Description
Tasks: The focus will be to investigate, whether commercially available hydride qualities are suitable for the three different applications and how the cost of hydrogen storage materials can be decreased. Studies will include effects of impurities in low purity raw materials on hydrogen storage properties, and the use of recycling materials for hydrogen storage. The results on low cost materials shall also be applied for materials in non-aqueous batteries, where applicable.
The candidates are expected to present the results on project meetings, international conferences, and in scientific publications and to contribute to patent applications.
