Within the framework of the UPFellows programme, a position is available for a highly motivated researcher in the Biomedical Genomics group of Nuria Lopez-Bigas at the University Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona.
The researcher will be involved in the analysis of pan-cancer genomics data, including tumour genome and transcriptome sequencing data, focused particularly in the identification of driver mutations in non-coding regions. The successful applicant will join a team of international researchers based at the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park in Barcelona.

Qualifications and experience:
The ideal candidate would have a Ph.D. in bioinformatics, computer science, genomics, molecular biology or other relevant fields of biology, with research experience in computational genomics, cancer genomics, or a closely-related field. Experience in the study of non-coding regions will be an asset. She/he should have strong analytical, statistical, quantitative, and computational/ programming skills, in addition to creativity, curiosity, enthusiasm, and ability to work independently.
To comply with the conditions of the call the applicant:
must probe to hold a PhD or has earned a PhD by May 31st, 2015 and
will undertake transnational mobility, defined as the applicant not having carried out his or her main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Spain for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the start of the application period on March 14. Short stays, such as holidays, are not considered.

Benefits
UPFellows will receive a three-year contract with a gross salary/year of 47.300€ plus Social Security costs. In addition, selected candidates will receive:
Travel allowance: 800€/year
Contribution to Research costs: 3,000 €/year
