The Department of Political Science of Leiden University invites applications for three PhD positions in political science, starting in September 2015, or as soon as possible thereafter. One of these positions is funded through an NWO ASPASIA grant.
The Department, which consists of about 35 national and international faculty members, has an established international reputation, having consistently received high ratings in peer reviews of both its teaching and research programmes. The Department offers a Dutch-language BA programme in Political Science, and English-language Masters’ programmes in Political Science, and in Political Science Research, at the Leiden and The Hague campuses.
Project description
The focus of the Department’s research programme is on political institutions broadly defined, their design, functioning, and implications. Candidates are expected to work within this programme and to assist in the teaching of two courses a year on average. For the ASPASIA-funded position, the candidate should work on a topic related to ethnic politics, including, but not limited to: ethnic parties; patronage/clientelism and ethnicity; or ethnicity and representation.
