Doctoral assistant in the area of Green Building Engineering

The Faculty of Applied Engineering is seeking to fill a full-time (100 %) vacancy in the research groupEnergy and Materials in Infrastructure and Buildings (EMIB) for a  doctoral assistant in the area of Green Building Engineering.

Job description

  • Your full time assignment consists of three core tasks: educational activities (40%), research activities (50%), services to the University (10%).
  • You contribute to teaching and research in the field of construction engineering.
  • Teaching assignments for about 6 to 8 hours/week will be attributed to the candidate according to the needs of the programme and the candidate’s training.
  • You develop your own research projects and apply for grants.

Profile and requirements

  • You hold (or obtain during the application period) a doctorate degree (PhD) in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Industrial Engineering/Engineering Technology-Construction.
  • The focus in your teaching corresponds to the educational vision of the University of Antwerp.
  • Your academic qualities comply with the requirements stipulated in the University’s policy.
  • You are quality-oriented, conscientious, creative and cooperative.
  • Your expertise will be an added value to the green building engineering group of the EMIB-research group.
  • You have excellent communication and management skills.
  • A good mastery of the English language is essential.

We offer

  • An appointment as a doctoral assistant for a period of three years, with a possibility of renewal for a further three-year period after positive evaluation.
  • The date of appointment will be September 1, 2015.
  • A full time gross monthly salary ranging from € 3.896,31-€ 6.074,02.
