PhD Position – CMOS imager architecture for RTS noise mitigation

CMOS image sensors (CIS) address different applications ranging from medical field (X-rays) to videosurveillance (visible part of the spectrum), as well as thermal imaging (Infra-Red). An important feature of CIS consist in their ability to detect low level of light. That’s why electronic noise has raised much interest the past few years. With technology progress, the noise limit has reached the point where a previously negligible noise has become now dominant : the RTS noise (Random Signal Telegraph). This PhD will study the mitigation of such a noise in the field of integrated circuits for imaging. One or several circuit fabrications are planned in order to confirm simulation results. This will paves the way for paper submissions to conferences and journals that are internationally reknown. The PhD student will be part of the CEA-LETI integrated circuit design team located in Minatec Grenoble, France. This team is composed of about 100 designers, whose 20 are specialized in image sensor design. The applicant/candidate for this thesis will have a Master degree (or equivalent) in Microelectronics. Specific analog/mixed-signal design skills will be appreciated. Autonomous, initiative and scientific mind will undoubtly lead to a wealthy/great Phd !
